As everyone is aware, we are moving along with our commitments to the fair to step up our game to improve the experience for our visitors. Our north entry/lobby has been painted and we have 4 framed posters of the major railroads of California to install for a clean and "new" look. We have completed replacing the illegal extension cord with conduit and installing powered exit signs (this should satisfy the fire marshal). The conductors stand and bench are being painted as is the viewing stand. After GTS, we will have a couple of work days before fair to clean-up the south area (paint the walls and the stairs and clean up the display cabinet). However, we need to approve some spending on items to complete the work. Two of the proposals are to add to the work that has been done in the entry/lobby. They will improve the area appearance and having people know who we are, as this is the first impression of someone visiting us. As time is short, we will need to agree on these at the next meeting to have it done for fair. These are (including the budgeted costs):
1. Revise the lighting in the entry/lobby (see below) with two new wrap around fixtures - $100
2. Produce a banner to put on the facia above the HO port by the entryway (see below) - $86
3. Buy 500 Business cards to pass out to prospective members - $20
4. Build the entry structure that Jerome seemed very eager for us to build - $600
In total, we will need to budget $806 to complete these steps. We should allocate Gary to spend up to $1,000 for the remainder of the work as we may need to buy some paint or other items.
Attached is a proposal for a 1" conduit based entryway structure with facia boards for appearance. It is relatively light and removable and disassembles/knocks down for storage. This is a front and side view of the proposed structure. It is an 8x8' square and will extend past the tents and is high enough to be visible from the entire courtyard (over the tents).

These are the proposals for the other three items:
1) Install new lighting in North entry/Lobby
Having a single old shop light in our entry has two impacts, it looks poor and it does not illuminate the area adequately and uniformly. I propose we put up a 10-12 foot 2x4 from the existing wall support 2x4 to the angle iron above the north entry door (Clamp it there). Then we mount two better looking LED fixtures to the 2x4, one about where the current one is and a second one after about a foot gap. This will have three impacts, make the overall space much more inviting, better light us in the chair and light the posters on the wall. For the latter, I propose we buy wrap-around fixtures. I checked locally to no avail at a reasonable cost (nice ones at HD for $120). I propose we buy two of these 4' Fixtures from Amazon for $33. With tax, the 2x4, and new light cords from HD (Just buy a couple of 10 foot extension cords and cut to length after hanging them), it should be less than $100. https://www.amazon.com/FaithSail-Wraparound-Fixtures-Fluorescent-Replacement/dp/B07C75SLG9/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=faithsail&qid=1552164702&s=gateway&sr=8-7

2) Welcome Banner Putting up a welcome banner telling people who we are would be a great idea. We can put it up on the upper soffit of the HO by the north entrance (above the window to the port). We can buy a 2x6 ft. matte fabric banner (see this for description<https://www.banners.com/fabric-banners>) from banners.com for $86 including shipping (looks better than a shiny vinyl). It comes seamed and with grommets to hang. This is a proposed basic design following the business cards and using the same font:

As it is white, on the brown upper wall it will be very visible. I recommend we spend the $86.
3) Business Cards getting a small number of business cards will allow us to hand them out to potential members to make sure they have our contact info.
This is a proposed design. 500 cards are about $18 from VistaPrint.

Please review and comment on email before the next meeting so we can vote on this and get moving.
