Tony,
Although I have not done it myself, you might consider making a metal casting copy of the cracked plastic part through the lost wax process.

I have a 2-8-0 model which has a cracked belt drive gear. I just finished drawing one in Solidworks and wondering if anyone has ability and time to create one of these out of brass. Original one is plastic - replacements are not available unless you purchase the whole motor, flywheel assembly.
I'm going to try to 3D print one, but the resolution of the device might be good enough to capture the shape of the teeth.
Contact me at 925-989-8296 if you can help.
Tony
