[Accrs-ho] Missing Cleaning Car

Folks,

To restate the point, please return all the new Walthers Cleaning Pad cars to the Cleaning Train on Track 1 in the Hidden Yard.

On the other subject, the old-style “roller” cars do not work on our layout.  As I pointed out in my presentation many months ago, the roller cars do not clean tracks or even loosen the dirt/grim. They never have. They just roll over the dirt. Or worse, they compact it onto the rails. I have tested this on our layout, along with all our other cleaning car type. The roller cars are an interesting idea, but in practical use, they just don’t work and there is no point in using them. Sorry you spent time on this.

Use the new Walthers pad cars or an alcohol pad cleaning car on our layout.

This is not an answer to your question, but for a long time, there was an old style cleaning car setting in the inside area of the divider between us and the public at the main control panel.

It had a broken truck assembly on one of the trucks.  It had sat there for years.  Anyway, I took it home and rebuilt the trucks so that it could be used.  There is a cleaning roller that sits in the middle.  I think you either saturate the roller with cleaning fluid or run it behind a car that contains cleaning fluid.  Anyway, it is repaired and ready for service.  Check it out.  You might want to add it to the cleaning train.

I did a spot check yesterday and found that one of our new cleaning cars was missing from the Cleaning Train that is stored in the Hidden Yard.
A reminder that the individual cleaning cars must remain with the Cleaning Train at all times. They are not for individual use on your trains.
Please return all cleaning cars to the Cleaning Train that is stored on Track 1 in the Hidden Yard.
