We agreed on the max length of trains for shows (length of track 9, there are several tracks in the yard which are the same length as 9). We also agreed one car clerk to check everyone's cars won't work. We need several people assigned to do that and no rushes right before a show. The meeting was only about the operating rules, thus, no discussion about signals. However, the electron experts who met on 9/23 to discuss the electrical condition of the layout and the 110v stuff unanimously agreed that nothing more gets added to the electrical system until we get it sorted out and improved. As trainmaster, they have my support.

I go with Tony's suggestion of the use of a track cleaning car.
I have two track cleaning cars, one a WP 40' boxcar which I can use on my WP, and other trains of that era, and a UP 40' box car, which is configured as an impact car with clear sides for better cargo handling, which I can also use for that era. If one wants to run a stack train, obviously they won't fit the era. I know that we have club cleaning cars, but I've observed that they derail quite often, so don't convey the impression that we want to make.
Also don't feel that we need to get info the length of trains to be run. Track 9 should be the longest train, that can be run.
As we don't have a car clerk, or someone to check the trains before put on the layout as of now, that has to be looked into. I suggest that we get through this year, and in the quiet first quarter, set up some guide lines. The suggestion of pre- running a train for a show is a good one though, to see if it makes it around the layout.
Also at the meeting I didn't hear anything about the signaling system, nor the detect detectors we had discussed. Anyone know anything about these, that I don't.
Lee
