[Accrs-ho] Proposed Rules - Friday's meeting

I go with Tony's suggestion of the use of a track cleaning car.

I have two track cleaning cars, one a WP 40' boxcar which I can use on my WP, and other trains of that era, and a UP 40' box car, which is configured as an impact car with clear sides for better cargo handling, which I can also use for that era. If one wants to run a stack train, obviously they won't fit the era. I know that we have club cleaning cars, but I've observed that they derail quite often, so don't convey the impression that we want to make.

Also don't feel that we need to get info the length of trains to be run. Track 9 should be the longest train, that can be run.

As we don't have a car clerk, or someone to check the trains before put on the layout as of now, that has to be looked into. I suggest that we get through this year, and in the quiet first quarter, set up some guide lines. The suggestion of pre- running a train for a show is a good one though, to see if it makes it around the layout.

Also at the meeting I didn't hear anything about the signaling system, nor the detect detectors we had discussed. Anyone know anything about these, that I don't.

The secret to good track cleaning is to use a good tracking cleaning car – otherwise you are only redistributing track residue.
It’s been proven that during fair ops if you clean the track well using a good cleaning car in the morning you can run trains all day long without any problems.
