Jamie,
Can't recall if you were at the meeting or not. The thing about the
length of train, of course, for shows and the Fair, was about what makes
a train. An engine, two cars and a caboose, are not as exciting to a
patron as a longer train. The longest train gets the most comments.
Nothing was set, but it was a discussion point. There are prototypical
trains that only run two or three cars. A track full of these type of
trains wouldn't be so interesting to a patron. That was the
discussion. No rules were offered or decided.
On a side note. A few weeks back, early of a Friday afternoon, Peter
ran a 100 car coal train and pulled it with 4 locos. It ran well. I
put out a 60 car train. His cars were 40-45' cars, mine were 50-60'
cars. Mine would not make it up to Jamestown with 4 locos. . It is a
wonder it got our of the yard. Trains were of comparable length, but
mine was heavier. I had to add a 5th loco and everything was good.
Ran with no problems and could run for a show or the fair if allowed.
