[Accrs-ho] Proto 2000 Locomotive Survey

Several members responded to the  survey about having Proto 2000 GP/SD models that are candidate for switching to DCC.


Attached is a picture of what I'm been doing at my work bench.


If your Proto 2000 models are still new in the box from 15 years ago,  they will need to  have the lubrication cleaned and reapplied.  On the GP7/9 models you might be aware that the early runs of these have cracked axle gears.   Easy replacement.    The SD7/9, these are modern design trucks with the interlocking sidefames - I created a tool aide the help removing the bottom clip.  If you are not familiar with these trucks,  do not try to pry off the side frame like the Athearns - these require the bottom clip to be removed first  - and this is very delicate part.


August 4th is the BBQ,  I'm planning to be there early so if you are interested let's talk about next steps and plan a day to work on these.
