ACCRS HO Scale accrs-ho at mail.accrs.org

Members,

I just purchased a few Walthers 48' trailers from eBay. Price sticker
on them was $4.48 each. With shipping they cost me closer to $8.00
each which isn't too bad. I had 40' ones and 45' ones, but needed a few
48' ones for my period on the Santa Fe (1990-1995).

I saw this post today. Look at the price increase on their trailers.
Sure, they are assembled and probably have more detail, but is it
necessary for most of use and purpose.

*Within the next few days, Walthers will be publicly announcing an
all-new 40' Trailmobile trailer in HO scale. The artist rendering
lookd pretty nifty, although mudflaps are not shown. Roads include
Conrail Trailvan, Crab Orchard & Egyptian, IC, SF, B&M, and CWN Falcon.
They will retail for $29.98 each.*

*Also in the July announcements, they are finally bringing back the HO
53' Stoughton, offered in two packs (those are the type I bought,but the
48' ones). I have been working with Walthers on this for years, and
it's finally coming to light. While most of the roadnames clash with
the vintage of the trailer, it at least gives modelers some customizing
possibilities. And finally, some sort of modern FedEx Freight that can
be worked into today's hot pig trains. Roads include CR England,
Ryder, FedEx Freight, Schneider, JB Hunt Intermodal, Swift, Landstar,
and XTRA.*
* *
*Lastly, they are re-releasing the HO 50' TTX Front Runner. Looks to
be an identical run from previous years. Included trailers for these
packs are XTRA (Invest in America), Conrail Trailvan, TransAmerica, BN,
and SF.*
* *
Hard to say what the other items will retail for, but suppose you wanted
to have 10 89' TOFC flats in your train. If you got 20 40' trailers,
that would set you back $600 not to mention the cost of the flats.
Probably the 10 car train would run up to $1,000 if you had to purchase
retail today.
