Folks

I think that Tony is onto something here. What would it take to make a large back drop that could be attached to the wall. Base the back drop on a drawing or photo shopped picture?

Joel, some comments from the pictures. The first impression looks nice.

Color - the colors appear to match well and I think it ties into the overall theme well.

Geometry - the building appear to slant to the right a bit compare to building models in the foreground.

Clouds - they are low on the horizon (ie. far away) bring them closer, above the horizon, building tops and might should fit better. Notice how the clouds on the left (existing) side are.

Shadows - some of the shadowing on the buildings need to be tweeked.

I think you got it. Project this image against the wall with LCD projector, trace the outlines, pencil the details and start painting. No need to spend $3K on an artist you've got what it takes!

My only concern is spending $3K or more on something that cannot be taken with the club if booted out of the building.

Hello all, I'm collecting finalized quotes from the artists I think will be good for the project. I am asking them for work samples similar to our project to show. It's looking like we should be prepared to spend about 3k if we want to make this happen. I made a quick mock-up in photoshop of generally what we're going for (attached). Before anyone says anything, yes I know this city looks too modern- I will mention to make it look older. Let me know if you have any ideas I should add. This should be doable before fair, shouldn't take more than a week to paint it once its approved. I'll be at May's meeting with the final pitch and we can yay or nay it then. Thanks -Joel
