<p class="MsoNormal">Attached is a condensed time table from the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific from 1872. Notice that a boat transfer across the Missouri River is required to get into Omaha. Then you’re on the Union Pacific tracks to SLC, then Central Pacific
to Oakland. No mention of another boat ride across the bay to reach San Francisco. Livermore is listed on the schedule – Pleasanton and Sunol are not. Pleasanton, still a bandit hideout location at the time.
