<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:18pt">To all ACCRS
members. Please read and respond to this email if you want to have
ACCRS continue as the Tri-Valley model railroad club.<u></u><u></u></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As those of you that were at last Friday’s club
meeting, the board is in the process of preparing a proposal to the
fair for our ongoing operational relationship. In that proposal, we
are asking for two key commitments from the fair, first to assure us we
can stay for 5 (or maybe 4) years in the current building before
eviction. This is based on the schedule laid out by Jerome and the time
frame for the building demolition. The second is for a mechanism for
badges for events that we are open for. Getting the fair to concede to
these two points will assure that we have some time to react as a club
to the facility change and to prove our value in the search for a new
facility location. Getting badges assures we can be open for events
like the Good Guys with minimal complexity during the remaining time in
the current building and can use those to generate additional reserves
for a move.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">However, to do this, we need to propose a quid
pro quo to the fair of how we are improving and supporting them as
well. We have had a couple of meetings with Jerome and he is expecting
a proposal from us and has given input on areas he believes we can
improve in. As part of preparing for that, last month, the Strategy
Committee identified some things we could do to improve and the
meetings with Jerome brought up additional ideas. The board has
consolidated this into a set of potential actions that would start to
change our external perception.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The attached pdf is a list of the potential
things the board has identified that we can do, along with an
explanation and an initial estimate of work and cost levels (estimates
were done quickly are not defensible
<span style="font-family:"Segoe UI Emoji",sans-serif">😊</span>).
The key is deciding which of these we actually have club resources to
complete. Before we can propose our actions to the fair, we need to
have some level of assurance that we can complete them. Therefore,
please look over the list and see if there is an action you are willing
to take on as the project lead. As the project lead, you do not have to
do everything yourself, but take on coordinating the project (ordering
materials, coordinating actions, dates, volunteers, etc). We are going
to push hard for volunteers over the next 6 months to get done what we
commit to. Expect lots of work Saturdays over the winter.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">After reviewing the list, if you see something
you can take on, please email Gary or Phil directly. If you want to
talk about something, give me a call on my cell below. As you can see,
a few of the actions have a name associated with them. Please take one
on!!!!!!!!<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The potential future of a model railroad in the
Tri-Valley is on the line with the outcome of this activity. If we
cannot do at least some of the things in this list, the potential of
this group succeeding in engaging with the fair or another community or
group to develop a new facility is low. Now is the time for all of us
to step forward and invest in the hobby and our organization to assure
we have a chance for a new home in the future. If no one responds to
take accountability for doing things to improve, then we cannot
improve. If we do not have anything to offer to the fair, then the
current situation will continue, we will not be open except for the
fair and we will eventually be evicted. The only way to get moving is
to define a set of things to do and negotiate with the fair based on
those actions. This enables us to proceed in a defined way to prove our
value either to the fair or an associated community location.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">If there are no or minimal responses to this,
the board may call special meeting before the Christmas party to
discuss with he membership. Without moving forward on this, the club
will remain in the current situation with the fair until we are evicted.<u></u><u></u></p>
