<p>Just a note about the Good-Guys and a couple other things. I was
down there the Thursday evening before the show started. They had
a lot of stuff in the storage area so I understood why they wanted
it blocked off. I had e-mail communication with Harry Daviess at
GGs Wednesday and Thursday that week trying to work it out. They
are OK with us being open but want no traffic thru the storage
area and want it to be blocked off. Fire code says we must have
two exits. I told him we could direct the back door traffic to
the south by removing the fence and having the fair set up chain
link fence across the north end of our little break area outside
the door. He would be fine with that. However, when I proposed
this to Candice she was not happy that I had contacted Harry
directly. She settled down later in the day and suggested we set
down with her and map out the events to the end of the year. That
is something Phil suggested separately, so it's a good
opportunity. I also sent Harry an e-mail saying there wasn't time
to make the changes for last weekend but want to do it in November
and we would coordinate it thru Candice. I copied Candice on the
e-mail and he replied favorably and said "stay in touch". Candice
was copied again. Phil and I have been working together on this
situation and want to set up a meeting with the CEO after Phil
talked to him at a fair board meeting. Be sure, we are not just
setting around waiting for stuff to happen. BTW, the fair people
usually come thru our building at some point during the fair. I
was somewhat irritated that I was there and no one told me he was
there. It was a missed opportunity. Why weren't there enough O
scale trains running? Same thing happened with the fire marshal
visit. Nobody told me he was there. He must be giving his
reports to the maintenance department. Candice knew nothing of it
and the maintenance folks never seem to have a problem with us.
We now know what the problems are and they are easy fixes. So
let's get those fixed. <br>
</p>
<p>BTW, the easiest way to nail us is to charge rent and
electrical. <br>

<div>When I went to the goodguys show last week. I was
surprised to find the main entrance not blocked and the back
door not blocked. They did have the back fenced off but
there was no equipment stored back there. I am finding it a
little concerning that this week we are not going to have
the ability to go to the club and form what is sounds like
not have our Friday meeting. From my point of view and what
I have read. I think it is time for the club have a sit down
with the fair board and figure this out. It is clear to me
what the fair is trying to do I have seen it before. We are
a anchor to there feature plans and the cheapest way for
them to get what they want is to make our life difficult and
drive us out. The easiest way to accomplish that is to cut
our access to some of the most important events we have to
keep the funding flowing. Yes I know some members don’t
want to see what is staring them in the face bit I think it
is time to be proactive and defend our feature at this
location. This year lots of changes have been made not to
our favor. Here is a short list. <br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>1. No I’d cards (possible mis use)</div>
<div>2. First event with no I’d cards (we had a list of
members that we drafted and handed to the fair for
distribution the list I saw was not current and not what we
handed them.)</div>
<div>2. No fair passes (when the fair was being setup there
was no clear communication on how the fair system was going
to work the list system did not work for a both party’s. I
did not think we where going to be open form the lack of
communication) </div>
<div>3. Wrong entry passes (we where given regular day passes
not early entrance passes. Week before the event started ) </div>
<div>4. Corrected entry passes ( The correct passes had to
be exchanged for the wrong passes two days before the event
started)</div>
<div>5. Fire marshal explained to us that he has written up
our club for four years straight for the same violations and
the club has not been notified of all these violations or
report.</div>
<div>6. Surprise visit from the fair chief Jerome ( he was
not smiling dammanding action on the layout not enough
equipment running on the o scale side) </div>
<div>7. Our first no good guys show. (No explanation why)
orders not to contact the good guys staff.</div>
<div>8. Our second good guys show cancellation (no room when
there was room) </div>
<div>9. Now no meeting and no entry because of this event
(with no good excuse)</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>It seems to me that the future of this organization is in
jeopardy. I don’t think it’s too late to change the course.
From what it sounded like from vice mayor he did not seem to
like where the fairgrounds is heading towards. The community
also seemed to be concerned as well for our feature. With
all the support i saw from the community that walked through
the fair. I think we have a great shot on modifying the
fairs mind or possibly triggure a fair board replacement if
enough issues come up from the community. Yes it is going to
take some work but it might be worth it to stay in our
“home” for past 30+ years and hopefully our feature home for
the next 30+years.</div>
