I may have started this whole thing. My wife relayed to me that she
read or heard that Circus Vargus was going to be on the Fair grounds
starting on Thursday. I had no way of knowing if we were going to be
blocked out or not as I said in my posting. At that point, Gary, our
contact with the Fair would most likely check with Candice to see if
the Circus would impacte our access to the club. Gary has already
explained about the Good Guys if anyone paid attention during the
picnic and in an e-mail. As much as we don't like it, we have to
tread lightly and let him be the contact and confirm or not if our
presence on a Friday night might cause problems. <br>

I don't ever recall being open for the Scottish games as a fund
raiser. A year or two ago, some members were there on either a Friday
night or a Saturday work party. Some of the Scottish group dropped in
and this may have led to problems for the Fair.<br>

Our job is to work with the Fair. Too bad the Train Show is moving to
Richmond. But, didn't they always have one there anyway. I bet it is
because the rent was raised at our location. <br>

<p>I was gone a couple weeks in July. When I saw your request for us
to host a Saturday run, I forwarded it to Dick, your trainmaster. I
suggest you work it with him. I just explained the Good Guys
situation. I announced at the BBQ that it didn't look like we were
going to be open for the August show and the second hand info you had
was correct at that time. However, I've kept working on it with input
from other members. The Good Guys primary mission when they rent the
whole fairgounds is their show. If they need space they have rented
and it shuts us off, we are not their primary concern. If they didn't
need that space, we'd still be open for their show. When I talked to
her Tuesday, Candice said she'd try our suggestion with them and see if
they agree. No answer yet. The Scottish games have never been a
problem and I hear rumors that we are probably not welcome. They have
never and are not this year open on Friday night. The Circus is not an
issue per Candice. She hasn't been able to get in touch yet with the
Good Guys and is on vacation until Monday when she will try again. All
I saw today on e-mails was speculation on several events not grounded
in reality. My comments were not aimed at anyone in particular, but
those in general who send this stuff around. <br>

where we are not welcome. I have been told by multiple members of ACCRS
that we are not welcome on the grounds for the Scottish games when they
take place. I'm not sure if the Games are taking place but I do know
there won't be a model RR swap meet in late November. Did you know that
the Model RR swap meet that usually takes place around Thanksgiving has
been moved to Richmond? It doesn't seem that, other than the Fair, we
are welcome here. I hate to disagree with you sir, but this is several
area codes from jumping to conclusions. I don't jump well. I am part of
significant model RR network & the swap meet was confirmed almost
two months ago. </div>

<p>No one at the Fair has said a word to us about any show except
Good Guys. We seem to have a few folks who start rumors based on what
they think the Fair is up to. Scottish games have never been an issue
and Good Guys became an issue because they wanted to use the space
between the building for storage. I've made suggestions to Candice
about how they could still have storage and we could be open. She
committed to talk to them about it. The Good Guys rent the whole
fairgrounds so can use whatever unoccupied space they want. Circus
Vargas is in a "big top" tent which sounds like it will likely be where
the carnival is during the fair. May not be a problem for us. The
Fair doesn't set up events just to keep us off the grounds. At this
point, I haven't heard back on this weekend, I've already said what's
going on with Good Guys, and I'm not going to worry about the Scottish
games. So get your aerobic exercise by doing something other than
jumping to conclusions with no info at all.</p>
