Wow…..Pleasanton was surprised!!!! It seemed that half of the under 30 Asian population of the Bay Area came out to Pleasanton last night. It is open Sat/Sun 3-11 also.

The traffic last night was unreal. The attached image is Waze at 10:37 about traffic around the fairgrounds (all roads are red). Dick said it was the worst traffic he had ever seen at the fairgrounds (and he is really old). Raises all sorts
of interesting questions about first responders access and neighborhood safety and resident impact, all key questions in a Pleasanton city zoning hearing around building a huge hotel and event center that attract even larger events and more traffic congestion
and impact. Sounds like a major referendum coming.

Anyway, the “night market” is scheduled to return to the Alameda Fair September 21-23, not sure if it will be as crazy the second time, but we may need to discuss parking with the fair folks. We all seemed to be able to get in Friday, but
with the volume of pedestrians inside the fairgrounds on our access paths, I would not be surprised if they limit auto traffic for safety concerns for the next one, we should be proactive if we want access. We do not want to establish the precedent tht there
are event typsThe organization that runs this runs similar events in SoCal at the OC fairgrounds (Jerome’s alma matter) and Santa Anita. They seem to run every couple of months over the summer (three or so). Her is a link to their web site:

One discussion is whether opening for one of these could work for us. Quite frankly, it is a whole new demographic that probably does not come to the fair or the Good Guys. This and the upcoming Pet Fair are events that would broaden our
demographic.
