like to thank the fellas that went to the layout
yesterday & began the process of organizing the
layout in preparation for John Abatacola & his team
to video our club. Unfortunately, I had a hic-up &
could not be there to assist. The actual shoot will take
place on Saturday May 5th. Our goal is to shoot both the
O scale & narrow gauge then shoot the HO side. This
means we have (2) Fridays & one more full weekend to
prep the layout. Since I have been involved with 3 of
John's shoots at the CMRS, I'm using my experience In
working with John to help get us as prepared as
possible. John's attention to detail will make for a
very long day, but the quality of his work in editing
will be well worth it, so we need to be as prepared as
possible. Things to consider:</div>

Docents:</b> Since we are shooting (2) videos, We need
(2) members to introduce each layout. It would be
beneficial if we had historical data of the club
(Overall Length of Service) Initial construction dates,
initial opening, description of each layout, length of
layouts, number of switches, yards etc. The addition of
DCC to each layout can be discussed as well. Any
specific scenery details the club wishes to highlight
can be mentioned. Incomplete projects also can be
mentioned. This can give John additional reason to
return to film progress updates & use them as
segments to his podcast. If you have watched any of the
other Videos that TSG has created, John has pretty much
stuck to a successful format of a member introducing the
layout, then he show trains running. He uses voice overs
& edit's in still shots of various scenery. He may
ask our docents to provide scenery description(s) In
closing I'd like to make our docents job easier by
asking our members for this data with the hope we can
build a "script" for them to follow so they can flow
smoothly. John will be looking for any vintage photos of
our layout then he can insert in his film. I am a new
member so I am asking for the club to recommend our
docents. Any schematic maps or track plans would also
be a welcome addition. </div>

don't think I need to mention this but clean track is a
Major factor in the performance of our eq. Also dust in
buildings does show up on film. Try to provide trains
that are as prototypical as possible. Eliminate soda
cans, alcohol bottles & other tools on the layout.
The camera will find them. John will need to have full
access to all areas which means the "duck unders" will
need to be cleaned of light tubes & other debris. </div>

Since we do not have the DCC operation functioning, we
can only run two trains at a time. We will need an
Operator at the narrow gauge section. When John, filmed
the CMRS club we stationed several trains in specific
locations so they would pass each other. I'm thinking
four to five operators will be enough on the HO side. I
would be best to consider servicing your equipment. </div>

closing this video is much more then watching trains run

we have an opportunity to create something special. I
hope to see the photos & information I asked for, If
