I think we should keep a fleet of roolingstock that is older than the 70s for those of us that like running steam. Being there are some members that are picky and chew out members running equipment that is out of era in one form or another. I personally don't want to come to the club to get chewed out because all I could bring was a locomotive and the only cars available are out of era.

Before any disposal takes place this should be brought up in a meeting. This is a CLUB environment and not a personal railroad. We need to as a club represent multiple facets of the railroading world and not scare people off because what they want to model differs.

Andy K.

On Jul 8, 2017 1:16 PM, "Alameda County Central Railroad Society" <accrs@mail.accrs.org> wrote:

Message From: Dean & Margaret Lewis lewis2@earthlink.net
Good old person to person contact is best. Sure technology is a wonderful thing, but for us, it really doesn't seem like the way to go. I would rather see us do more on the layout.

We could add another lightning bolt or two. We could change out all those hot colored lights with LED's. It would make it cooler in the building. Adding the hot box detector on 37 with speakers by the control panel would be a nice addition.

I also would like to see a concerted effort to clean and rehab the club cars. Some of them need to go in the dumpster. They have really come to the end of being useful. I have worked on several cars that need repair but I can't do it all. I know that each of us have a period we like to model. With that said, I think that freight cars that can't resonably be used in a semi modern era of mid 70's and on should be dropped from the club freight cars. Those are the ones in the worst shape. Cars like the green pipe loads are nice, but they have old friction bearing trucks. If we want to continue to use them, replacing the trucks with modern roller bearing trucks might be an idea.

WE just need to get everything back to as close to like new as we can get it.
How much will it cost and are you volunteering to set it up and maintain it? Will it say hello to visitors and answer their questions?
