I want to be clear. I DO NOT think the age should be changed. We need
to encourage young people in this hobby and knowing a lot about trains
is not a prerequisite for joining this club. This is their chance to
learn. Behavior issues can be handled on a case by case basis and
expectations need to be set with the parents so they don't just drop the
kid off with us. We have adult members who knew very little when they
first joined and learned as they went and have been great contributors.
