Union Pacific steam locomotive 5511, is a 2-10-2 type Santa Fe that was acquired by Railroading Heritage of Midwest America.
RHMA took over the former Rock Island shops in Silvis, Illinois and have several restoration projects going on.

They are also working to restore the UP Challenger and DD40X back to service, along with passenger cars.

Here’s a view of the Silvis Shops today – when first opened in 1904 for the ROCK ISLAND SYSTEM, they were the largest in the USA.

If you ever visit this area, check this out, along with the factory tour of the John Deere harvester factory which is about 10 minutes away, and the Rock Island Arsenal museum. Has one of the largest gun displays I’ve ever seen. Remnants of the first RR bridge across the Mississippi is here. The Mississippi River Control Center has a visitor center you can watch boats pass by.
