[Accrs] Kato Custom Motor Mounts

Today I received my shipment of some 3D printed motor mounts a Rock Island U25B project.  The motor is Kato’s HM5 and the chassis is Bowser.  I have a few of the Stewart U25B kits,  then after Bowser purchased Stewart Products they made an improved chassis which is in the image below. These are printed on the HP JetFusion 3D printer.  Material is Nylon 12 (PA 12).  I ganged up two together linked together and had 5 printed. Cost total was $37.90.  $6.50 for shipping from France.  I uploaded the print file on April 6th.   I think that’s pretty good.  I had also uploaded to another 3D printer service and they complained about the part arrangement and threw a ISO standard related to aviation parts at me so I just cancelled that order and waited to see how these turned out.

This is a close-up view of the parts. The surface is grainy, but the part is strong. The HP printer is a powder based and requires some post processing when it comes out of the printer.  The legs for the screws need a clean out so I just use a drill

This is a view of the three main sketches to make this.   May not look like it’s all there, but this is all it takes.   There are two configurations of the parts – one is longer than the other. Just a matter of useing the sketches to build out the surfaces of the part.
