[Accrs] Joining the ACCRS site on groups.io

For all ACCRS members, this email exchange is why we need groups.io. Instead of high jacking this topic for a discussion about show attendance, the conversation about show attendance can be in a separate topic stream so it does not confuse this.
Please look at the first/original email in this stream first and do not use this email stream for other topics. Please join groups.io so we can have a good communications and information distribution system.

Hi Mark,
Do I understand your short message correctly:
You want to be taken off the Train Show sign up since you can't make it?

We have created a groups.io account to augment/replace the email reflector hat has many issues. The difference is the email reflector just does that , resends emails. If you are not on the list, no emails. With groups.io, you control your access, emails, etc. as you are joining the group. And the site has topics so you can post on a topic and others can respond JUST to that topic stream. You decide whether you get an email for each post or a daily summary. For example, all of our shows and meetings are in the calendar in groups.io and you will receive a notification email of any upcoming event. This is what the current ACCRS Working Group message page looks like and you will have access to after you go through the simple process:

As part of moving to this group/Team paradigm (used by the PCR, the CCC, and over 180 model railroad groups currently), I was asked to create a detailed process to create a personal groups.io account and join the ACCRS Working Group. Attached is a pdf that will guide you through the process. Don’t get scared by the length, it is only long because of all of the screen shots, it only takes a few minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to create an account, join the ACCRS and populate your identity. I included how to create an app icon on your phone so you can access it anywhere. If there is interest, I can bring a PC down with Internet access on Friday nights so members can do this at the club if they want.
Call me or email me directly if you have questions about your own account or how to do this. pedholm at pkeconsulting.com<mailto:pedholm at pkeconsulting.com>
