Members,
It has been an interesting discussion regarding a logo for the movie
that was filmed. In many respects, what ever club logo we have found,
it is from the distant pass. In this more modern age, we should look
for something else that creates a feeling of today. We want our film to
be dynamic and reflect the current modern railroad as well as
remembering the past.
How many youth of today have seen a steam engine. Most have not. We
need something that grabs their attention and is similar to what they
have seen growing up and see today. Steam ended around 1955-60.
That is going on 60 years ago. So anyone born after the mid 60's,
doesn't have memories of steam. F-units, GP7's, etc, but those born in
the last 20 years have only seen the modern GE and EMD locos.
Same thing with freight cars and passeger trains.
Let's find a way to project that we are a club* of today *and see if we
can attract more younger members. If not, our membership will suffer
the attrition of age and we will be left without anyone to replace
us. On the HO side, we should have started with modern and worked
back in time for our filming. It would have been more dynamic.
Just my thoughts.
Dean
