[Accrs] 2018 Alameda County Fair Attendance

I thought I would share some early statistics of visitation to our model train exhibit.  I inherited some historical information from our previous Treasurer, Dennis Stokely, and I found some interesting comparisons of this year's attendance compared to the past couple years.  As a caveat, we should not extrapolate three days of attendance to the whole Fair, but the numbers are encouraging.  


The 2018 attendance for Friday-Sunday was 7,665 compared to 3,686 for 2017.  In 2016, the Fair opened on Wednesday, but the Fri-Sun period had 6,698 visitors.  If this trend continues, it will signal a reversal of the declining attendance we have experienced the past few years.  


Why is the attendance improving?  Some have speculated that the Fair is doing a better job of informing the Fair visitors of our existence.  Perhaps the overall Fair attendance is up.  Has anyone seen any or heard of any evidence the Fair is doing anything on our behalf? 


Regarding donations, the amount per visitor so far is running better than historical statistics.


Periodically as the Fair progresses, I will attempt to keep you appraised of the comparative statistics.
