Levi,

I just had this exchange with a friend on my e-mail. I know it isn't
always about money but it is the right thing to do. Anyway, his
comments makes it seem useless to even try. I certainly hope it isn't
right.

Recycling in our area is weighed and then goes to the landfill. They get
paid for the weight. There are NO recyclers who could handle the volume
of our efforts

To: Bob,

Not sure that I follow you. Does the Fremont recycle place sort out
all the say aluminum into some large batch, squash it down, take it to
the landfill and the landfill people sell it to some source that sees
that it gets melted down and used again?? Same with plastic, etc??

To: Dean

The trucks that pick up our recycling don't have a place that CAN handle
all they collect, there aren't enough recycling centers in California to
take that volume.* They get paid to pick it up but, yes,it goes to land
fills.

Thing is recycling isn't about money. It's about leaving a smaller
footprint. I'm all for it.
