[Accrs] Another Sign Favorite Project

Dean, yeah these can be reproduced made out of sheet metal. I purchased a lighted Rock Island sign (~30x24)on ebay last year for $220. It's fabricated in sheet metal, pop, rivets, acrylic glass with printed RI red/white and LED lighting.
Any experience sign shop should be able to reproduce these - round, rectangle versions should be less time consuming and expensive compared to something like the RI emblem. (which originally was styled after a stretched beaver pelt)
A hybrid approach could be wood and sheet metal. For the round Golden State that is one way I was considering to make it as a DIY project. I don't have any fancy sheet metal tools, but cutting a rectangle piece to make the circle body is not too hard. Have wood back and front circle.

Tail signs are available. Perhaps these would work for the club.

Here is a site that shows many of the lighted drumheads. Finding them
to purchase could be difficult and/or expensive.

Could they be built new???

Another sign type that I think would be of interest to
visits would be passenger train tail car signs - lighted.

Attached is an example of a Golden State car. One of the
original signs is on display inside the Original Whistle Stop train
store in Pasadena. Others might exist in personal collections. I
don't think the California Railroad Museum has one of these. I would
guess that they are valued over $1,000.00

What I would like to do is recreate these, but use LED lighting
and perhaps have a removable battery pack that is easy to insert/remove
and is concealed in the design. Thereby, you can hang it without
worrying about electrical outlets.

I would want to create out of sheet metal, and painted glass or
acrylic with back lighting. And if we want to get really creative, we
can include sensor devices or timers to automatically turn on/off.
Version 1.0 can be basic on/off switch.

Again, the theme here can be passenger trains of California.

I have all the artwork needed for the Golden State cars, I
don't have Super Chief, Californian, Overland Limited, or others. If
you happen to have photos or digital images that can be used to create
the artwork please let me know.
