I know many of you were concerned about the rain, and if there was proper
drainage to avoid flooding our building. John Kolberg met with Rich Sims,
the Fairgrounds maintenance manager last week to talk about efforts we
could do to improve the drainage. The Fair plans to do some re-grading on
our south side as they have drainage issues on their side of the fence in
their maintenance yard. This is likely to start in the next week or two,
and should solve our problems as well.
Rich also mentioned that at the time they start the re-grading, they will
be demolishing the small animals building across the way from us, except
for the bathrooms, along with the small animal cages surrounding our
building on the east and south sides. The small animals are going to be
relocated to the Agriculture building. The purpose of the changes is to
open up the traffic pattern between the Midway and commercial buildings to
the south and the commercial/activities area to the north. Also, there
will be vendor booths up against our building on the east and south sides.
Rich also said that the current plans do not include any change to our
building. He also said if we were to add/replace swamp coolers they should
be located in the upper part of the wall so the space around our building
could be used for other things.
So if you see lots of demolition equipment coming in and around our
building please be safe and do not cross any barriers or caution tape that
may show up. We don't want anyone to get hurt.
