Some details on setting up and using Zoom:
We did an ACCRS Zoom video meet yesterday night at 7 PM. We had up to 12 ACCRSers in the meeting. We all agreed it was nice to see everyone and talk about modeling and the hobby. I am going to schedule a regular Tuesday night O scale Zoom video meeting at 7 for 2 hours until we break out. Details of how to join are below, I also attached a calendar item.
Some suggestions for using Zoom to enhance your and others experiences:
* To use an app and not just a browser as a guest, you have to create a Zoom account. www.zoom.com<http://www.zoom.com> You will need to use your email and create a password.
* Download the Zoom client. Have to for mobile, but using the app with a PC instead of a browser is better quality. If you have a Chromebook, it will work fine using the Zoom WebRTC browser app. If you are using a browser, Chrome is best.
* Having a camera and being on video makes the overall experience for everyone else and you much better. Half the reason to get together is social. If you do not have a camera on you computer, you can use a mobile or tablet. Or you can buy a camera on-line. A 2K camera is all you will ever need. If you need a camera, reply and you will get some recommendations.
* If you have a set of headphones, use them. The microphone and speakers in your PC can introduce echo (feedback) that other hear form your end. Computers are bad at removing this, wearing a set of headphones reduces the feedback the mic picks up. We should all be Princess Leia.
* If you have a cool modeling project to show, download the Zoom app for your phone and you can use the back camera to show your work (you can see what you are sending on the screen).
The meeting invite is above, just click on the URL invite. You can join the meeting with your CP/Mac to see and use the phone for audio, but we will probably not see you. Call me or send an email if you need technical help. Dick was even up on video Friday 😊
