Good work at the club, I appreciate your help. The ceiling is getting pretty bad. And needs to be addressed by both scales. It started peeling after the roof work the fair (we) did.
One approach would be to cover both layouts with plastic and then using a scaffold scrape the ceiling in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner. The biggest problem is not letting things fall and hit the lay outs. The other is this is a dangerous undertaking. (To the individual on the scaffold)
I am too old to be on ladders or scaffolds. I wonder if this can be contracted out?

All,

I went to the club today. I cleaned all the mainline freight and passenger track. I found one dead power turnout leaving Jamestown and repaired the connection. Occupancy detector was indicating the Mesa helix had something on it, which it did not, but it was a short caused by a turnout sticking. I decided to exercise all the turnout motors by cycling them all a few times. Quite a few got stuck, but only the rarely used ones. They are set back in normal position now but more work may be needed on those.

Occupancy detector is flashing again. It was much warmer today. Past experience showed it only stops flashing when it is cold. I think we can use a 12v digital car turn signal flasher to replace the aging relay to never have this problem again. I went to auto part store but they didn't have any, so I will order online.

I resumed the replacement of the overhead shop light with LED project we approved at the end of 2019 but got put on hiatus. Two more LED shop lights are in. I will probably continue to do two at a time for a few months until complete.

There was a piece of carpet next to the switch board that someone unended a soda onto during the last fair. It turned into a sticky goo over the lockdown period so I took the carpet home to be pressure washed.

The DCC throttles were in a bad state. One was labelled broken and most were almost non-reaponsive to button presses. I took all of them apart and alcohol cleaned all the button contacts, and they work awesome now. Like new from the factory.

I saw the new blue paint on the upper panels of the walkway. Looks nice, it'll be a nice exhibit if we ever have a fair again. Now we just need to figure out how to scrape and paint the ceiling, a task I don't envy.
