[Accrs-ho] Proposed Rules - Friday's meeting

Gotcha Dean. Of course I'm not saying the entire layout should be of short trains (I myself love to run longer trains as you've seen). But on occasion I do like to pull out my Central Oregon & Pacific SD40-2 and run a local train with like 9 or 10 cars. However, I will also be bringing my CORP GP38 back into service finally after having to get a replacement decoder for it, so hopefully I will be able to at least double that number of cars.

An engine, two cars and a caboose, are not as exciting to a patron as a longer train. The longest train gets the most comments. Nothing was set, but it was a discussion point. There are prototypical trains that only run two or three cars. A track full of these type of trains wouldn't be so interesting to a patron. That was the discussion. No rules were offered or decided.

His cars were 40-45' cars, mine were 50-60' cars. Mine would not make it up to Jamestown with 4 locos. . It is a wonder it got our of the yard. Trains were of comparable length, but mine was heavier. I had to add a 5th loco and everything was good. Ran with no problems and could run for a show or the fair if allowed.

Not sure about other members, but I have a couple of locomotives, in particular my Analog GE AC4400CWs and my Genesee & Wyoming-painted CORP SD40-2, that are really restricted in the number of cars they can pull before stalling coming out of the Hidden Yard or climbing the grade into Jamestown, especially if I run heavier cars, and I don't want those engines just being limited to switching industries just because they can't pull as many cars when there are short local trains that do run on the mainline.

Below is a list of most of the items we discussed. These items should be covered in the rules book.Train Length - for shows / Fair As long as track 9? or????Don't set up in front, use hidden.Don't clean engines out front??? Don't put equipment on top of the main control panel.Pull problem cars if they act up 3 times.Test your train and locos prior to a show or Fair. Do we wan

Fix phones???How to check equipment for standards and mark each car and/or loco in someway when they meet the standards. Who will be the "car clerk" that does this?Assigning consist numbers using your assigned two digits.Yorg was going to take a stab at writing/rewriting Operating Rule 4.0 regarding visitors and/or non members running trains and some of the newest proposed wording in Rule 5,0Let me know if I missed anything.Dean._______________________________________________Accrs-ho mailing listAccrs-ho at mail.accrs.orghttps://mail.accrs.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/accrs-ho
