Dean:
Their pricing us old modelers, and younger modelers out of the hobby. A real shame.

Members,
I just purchased a few Walthers 48' trailers from eBay. Price stickeron them was $4.48 each. With shipping they cost me closer to $8.00each which isn't too bad. I had 40' ones and 45' ones, but needed afew 48' ones for my period on the Santa Fe (1990-1995).
I saw this post today. Look at the price increase on theirtrailers. Sure, they are assembled and probably have more detail, butis it necessary for most of use and purpose.
Within the next few days, Walthers will be publiclyannouncing an all-new 40' Trailmobile trailer in HO scale. The artistrendering lookd pretty nifty, although mudflaps are not shown. Roadsinclude Conrail Trailvan, Crab Orchard & Egyptian, IC, SF, B&M,and CWN Falcon. They will retail for $29.98each.
Also in the July announcements, they are finallybringing back the HO 53' Stoughton, offered in two packs (those are the type I bought, but the 48' ones). I have been working with Walthers on this for years, and it's finallycoming to light. While most of the roadnames clash with the vintageof the trailer, it at least gives modelers some customizingpossibilities. And finally, some sort of modern FedEx Freight thatcan be worked into today's hot pig trains. Roads include CR England,Ryder, FedEx Freight, Schneider, JB Hunt Intermodal, Swift, Landstar, and XTRA.
Lastly, they are re-releasing the HO 50' TTX FrontRunner. Looks to be an identical run from previous years. Includedtrailers for these packs are XTRA (Invest in America), ConrailTrailvan, TransAmerica, BN, and SF.
Hard to say what the other items will retail for, but suppose youwanted to have 10 89' TOFC flats in your train. If you got 20 40'trailers, that would set you back $600 not to mention the cost of theflats. Probably the 10 car train would run up to $1,000 if you had topurchase retail today.
