With the help of Levi, Marc, and Yorg the first phase of rehabilitating the turntable is complete!!!

Since I will be attending my granddaughter's high school graduation next week I thought I would give an update on the project via email.

When I started this project, I thought there would be only one phase: install a drive mechanism to rotate the TT. After getting into it, I found that the ability to get power to the tracks radiating into and away from the TT and on the TT itself has been compromised. Thus, although the TT can now be rotated at will, running locomotives on it is another story. In addition to 15+ years of accumulated dirt on the rails, one of the leads seems to have a short in it. These items and probably more will have to wait until after the Fair as time is running out.

To operate the TT, you can find a toggle switch where the yellow dot with the words Turn Table once was on the CAB 3 panel. There are labels on either side of the switch: CCW to the left for Counter-Clock-Wise, and CW on the right for Clock-Wise. The center position of the switch is OFF. Power to the drive mechanism comes from a power-pack that is mounted under the layout and plugged into an outlet that is activated by turning on the CAB 3 switch.

One might ask how the TT is lined up with the radiating tracks---by eyesight. More creative methods are being thought of for when we actually are able to run locos into the roundhouse. More on this later.
