[Accrs-execs] Fwd: Question about possible donation of N-scale trains?

My short answer to the donation offer of some N scale "stuff" is offer it to the membership.  
 
My longer response is we are periodically offered someone's collection of model train rolling stock and structures that inevitably prompts the question of how can we use it.  If that donation fits into our short and long range plans, then we can accept it.  However, philosophically, donated stuff should not drive the plans of the club.  In my experience, I have yet to see any donation worth more than a few dollars--definitely not worth revamping the layout over.

If we were to add an N scale component to ACCRS, I see only two options available: 1. take space away from the existing O and HO layouts, or 2. build an extension of the upstairs meeting room over the HO city.  I don't see anyone voting for the first option, and the second one is expensive and probably has too many flaws to be viable.  

I have a hard time seeing the club making a committment to build a new N scale layout.  I have watched the lack of committed help for Andy Kelsey's idea to build in an HOn3 section on the existing HO layout.  Why would we expect a much bigger enthusiasm for an N scale layout that only one or two of our current members would work on.

   We discussed N-scale years ago and the membership didn't support it.  The composition of the club is different now, so the vote could be different, but that doesn't eliminate the space issue.

I have a collection of N-scale trains and random items that I want to part with; they've just sat collecting dust for the past 20 years.    Would you be interesting in N-scale?  Or for anyone in your extended team that might have interest?  I just want to find out before I just donate them to a local charity.
