[Accrs-execs] Rat in the Wall

Hello all,
Checked in on the smell in the upstairs room today. Found it was still
there. This time I cleaned *everything *looking for it.

Traced it to a crack under the wall. I sawed an access portal through the
drywall and found a big dead rat, and an accumulation of nesting material
and droppings. I removed the rat and nest, vacuumed everywhere possible,
soaked the carpet with carpet cleaner and sprayed the wall interior
liberally with alcohol.
The smell is worse than before now that the wall is opened up. I left it
open to dry out. I purchased some odor eliminator online which I am going
to apply to the wall interior when it arrives.
It occurs to me as I sit here that I did not empty the contents of the
shop-vac, which probably is adding considerably to the lingering stink.

On the plus side, though it may smell, the upstairs room has never *looked *
better.

I also took out three fairgrounds cans worth of trash. Something I noticed
from this project, the grounds staff do not empty the can we have by the
back door. Perhaps that can be remedied with a word to the management, but
for now I just put our trash in the cans out on the main path that
apparently are emptied.
